Zana & I enjoy going for bush and beach rides, mostly to the beach as we are only 5 minute drive away, and mostly with hubby, and when we can get it together, with friends.
I passed my level 1, firstly with Sassafras (deceased) on the 11th December 2006. And then again with Zana on 14th May 2007. I am currently working on the end of Level 2, with three assignments to go....the fun ones....
Update: Unfortunately, Zana has been diagnosed with djd (degenerative joint disease) quiet sevely in both front knees. Unable to continue with her at this present time. Maybe in the future though, we will just have to wait and see. In the meantime, I have a little horse called Ditto (Sassafras's full brother) waiting in the wings. Just recently passed all our ground challenges for level 1, so am bringing him on as far as we can go. Ditto was fortunate to be able to have some Foundation Training with Shane, just recently, so I will now be able to continue on with the riding.
Update: As of July 3rd 2011- Ditto and I have only one more assignment to go in level 1. A bit stuck on our one rein riding, but working thru it and the begining of level 2 ground work. So we are moving forward at a steady pace.
Level one completed with Ditto on 19/07/11 ---great work little Ditto.
Update: Have completed all of our groundwork assignments for level 2 with Ditto. He is doing so great in this program. Unfortunately Ditto and his brother have developed really nasty skin cancers. Had operations, but still coming back. Ditto is having a bit of time out to see if we can beat this thing.
Update: 20/04/12 I will be putting another horse through the levels program and have just passed first assignment with Bonza. He is a lovely quiet and gentle Quarter horse,7yrs old. Only had him about 3 weeks and still bonding. But he is a quick and mostly willing learner. Bonza and I have been doing lots of groundwork homework, so stay tuned for our blue ticks.
Update: 29/5/12 Just submitted my last assignment for Level 1 with Bonza..Hoping we will be advancing to level 2 in the not too distant future.
Update: 04/06/12 Yippee. Bonza has passed his level 1--- onward and upwards to level 2. Now the fun begins.
Update: 27/05/13 Well that year went past so quick.!!! Bonza is going really well and i must say I think we have bonded quiet well now. He is a lovely boy. Had a few rearing issues(claustrophobic). We have addressed this and have as of this date completed all of our level 2 ground assignments. We have put in a couple of ridden ones for feedback, so still working on those. In the meantime we have been to 2 camps. A RFT in Gin Gin last June for Bonza's first clinic and this year we have just come back from a level 3 amazing camp. Bonza was sooo good for me. Very patient and willing. Always does what I ask, even though I do ask for the wrong thing at times. LOL
Update: 18/02/14 All of our impulsion homework has finally paid off. As of today Bonza and I have actually got a blue tick for our gallop and flying lead change challenge. I am still in shock.....very proud of my boy. Only the imagination to go and bring on our blue string...LOL
Update: 04/03/2014 Blue string is on its way. Yipee for me and Bonza. Had a lot of fun in our level 2 and now we are dabbling in level 3 and Harmony In Motion. Oh the joy of it all.
Update:17/10/2014 Back from Calliope, where Bonza and I participated in a 2 day EMM clinic ( Equine Muscle Management) Very interesting and a great tool to have in the toolbox for my horse when needed.
Update: 03/11/2014 Just back from an awesome weekend at Pomona. Our very first QSports. Bonza and I entered level 3 contact riding class. Very proud of my boy. It didn't quite go to plan, but at least we entered and had some fun and experience. We also had a much needed lesson from Mel Peacock. Turns out I have been using my seat way too much to get him moving. On the right path again.
