    Hi Ann, He doesn't go beating anymore as he's too old now but beating is when people walk with dogs and 'beat' the hedges/grass eg run the dogs through it to disturb it so it disturbs pheasents, rabbits etc for the 'shoot' to shoot at. It's called beating because people who don't use dogs would use sticks to beat the ground to disturb it. The dogs have to be good...

    Wow thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. You certainly have your hands full with family commitments and pony's. What does Freckle do when he's "beating", I've never heard of that one before. Have fun with QS.
