Horsie Background:I started riding at 40 (I'm now 50) due mainly to a life- long love of horses, the opportunity to move to a coastal/country property and a huge mid life crisis! It all started when a neighbour allowed me to groom her borrowed pony some 45 years ago and when, at 40, I had the opportunity to own my very own horse, I jumped at the chance. As they say “wild horses couldn’t have stopped me!” I have had 5 horses in that time, 3 of which were not suitable mounts for a relative beginner, but I persevered despite the injuries. Along the way I have been involved with the EFA, HRCAV and various horsemanship clinics. I also breed WM Ponies and Alpacas. My main focus has always been dressage - that is until I discovered the QS concept.
Why you started with Quantum Savvy:Why you started with QS: Health problems left me unable to ride for a couple of years (which hasn't done wonders for my confidence) and Lewis being a relative youngster can be quite nervy and unsure at times, so between the two of us we are quite possibly an accident waiting to happen as I have limited experience with young horses. Thankfully a friend threw me a QS lifeline and the rest, shall we say, is history.....
Goals:To continue to set small ones for myself. I still pinch myself sometimes when I think of how far I've come. To qualify for that dressage championship was a very proud moment for me. A real Ta- Dah moment! As a GO (not sure how I got the job but here I am) I hope that I can assist the group to build on the already established network we have in place and perhaps inspire the members, in some way, to follow their dreams. My cardiologist has put an end to any competitive notions I may have been harbouring (doh) so Lewis and I have decided to turn our hand to trail riding which should be fun albeit a very adventurous step for me!
Claim to fame:My wonderful husband Graham who has allowed me to follow my dream, however expensive! Finishing 10th at the Victorian Dressage Championships a few years ago was the pinnacle of my dressage career.
What drives you?My dreams, my family, my fury, fleeced and feathered friends and a love of the environment. I am truly blessed and thankful for the support given me through my equine journey from the wonderful friends I have met along the way.
Anything else you’d like to add: I am truly blessed and thankful for the support given me through my equine journey from the wonderful friends I have met along the way. It has been such a wonderful journey to date and may it last my lifetime! My QS journey has begun and I look forward to yet another "new" adventure - new friendships, new ideas, new experiences new saddle, new secret bank account!
