Horsie Background:
I’ve had horses ever since I was about 10 when I was given my first horse Blaze. He was my soul mate as a child and I still miss him to this day! My next horse was an Arab who was too much for me, then another handy little fella who was great but then I discovered teenage life and lost interest for a while. I completed work experience as a Jillaroo on a Station near Walcha, NSW where I met and fell in love with my next horse (another Arab x ). Once I started working a year or two later, I saved up and went back there and bought him. After moving to the NT I sadly left him behind and then came across some pretty crazy station horses, but also some amazing ones – like my current mare Breeze, who is out of a station mare and crossed with a Brumby. She’s not the biggest and best built mare I’ve come across but it’s not her build I’m in love with! Her nature is to die for, she is such a sweetheart!

kellycook2Why you started with Quantum Savvy:

Even though I’d been around horses most of my life, I’d never been taught anything. Back as a child I never gave it a second though – I just enjoyed myself. Later in life, my fear of ‘humans’ prevented me from getting out there continuing to enjoy myself. I had no confidence in anything I did around horses anymore. I felt embarrassed and in turn would hardly even go near a horse! I knew QS could help me gain that confidence back and less than 12 months on, I find it hard to believe how I let myself miss out on so much over the years!

Goals:
Kelly CookTo breed Paints & Quarter Horses. To get into cutting, reining and rodeo events. I also want to be able to help people gain what we have too! My goal is to incorporate all of the above and become an instructor.

kellycook4Claim to fame:
Using my QS skills to get a little pony going forward that had no forward at all.

What drives you?
The desire to achieve the strongest bond with my horses that is possible, and to have all our horses trained with QS to help promote an amazing programme! My childhood dreamy state of ‘horsey land’ has been revived – and I use that to make it fun and enjoyable!

Anything else you’d like to add:
QS has helped me achieve so much more than I imagined. It has reached a part of me that was buried a long way down! The confidence it has given me and my horse is more than anything I could have hoped for. QS is the most amazing thing I’ve ever been involved in! It’s more than just a ‘horse’ course!
