Hello all. My name is Cindy and I am GO of the recently formed Ellerslie Practice Group. Our very first playday was held on 24th June at my family property, Boongala, in Ellerslie which is situated in the far South Western corner of NSW, Aust. I have been involved with the very established, Buronga PG for 18 months, which meets near Mildura approx 60km’s away & has been host to countless Level 1 Clinics with Entry Level Instructor Mel Peacock and an RFT clinic in March 2006 with Shane & Meredith, and as a result, QS is becoming quite well known in this area. Nearby friends recently became interested in QS and I saw this as an opportunity to form a PG in my area.

Our group so far consists of 4 members, 3 of which are beginning their Level 1, with ticks already on homework cards & a couple of challenges filmed also. I am working through Level 2, having recently achieved Level 1. Apart from our monthly playdays, our intention is to get together for a few hours once a week to tick off homework cards, film challenges or just to give one another some support and encouragement. Our monthly playday dates have been set a fortnight apart from the Buronga PG, which will give members a unique opportunity to attend both practice group playdays.

Our first playday was well supported with students from both Ellerslie and Buronga PG’s attending, as well as some new faces. Upon arrival the horses were un-haltered in the arena and as they became acquainted, we enjoyed a barbeque lunch supplied by all, with QS DVD’s playing in the background. After lunch the fun began. The arena was set up with 12 different activities to attempt.

We had an archway to walk under, a makeshift bridge, a log to stand on and some activities from the 100 Things to do DVD organized, also. It was heartening to watch everyone, from beginners to beyond Level 1 using their learnt skills. The day finished with some float loading practice for a few, while the rest watched on and cheered. Our next playday will be a camp over on the 5/6th August at Allan and Sheryll Sullivan’s property who are Ellerslie PG members. We intend to celebrate the horse’s birthday in style with a novelty course set for Saturday. All are invited to camp over & for those interested; a trail walk/ride will be planned for Sunday.

We are very proud of our fabulous Practice Groups at Quantum Savvy. They have such a huge desire for learning to become better communicators with their horses and helping further that learning in a group setting with other people and their horses. Each month, one practice group is interviewed and featured on the website.
