Quantum Savvy Practice Group Interview- Jan 2008
The Gungahlin Whisperers Practise GroupGroup Organiser: Dorinda Lillington
Location: Canberra ACT Australia
Group Formed: September 2005
The Gungahlin Horse Whisperers started when Petra, aka Stubby, was searching for a way to get a better communication with her horse Stubby. She conscripted her neighbour and a few others and the Whisperers had formed.
Petra then organized an RFT clinic in Murrumbateman in April 2006. Along with regular Whisperer members, we also had a few new people join in for the weekend to ride and watch. We all wanted to find a way to work safely with our horses and to have fun rather than being worried about the dreaded ‘what ifs’! The RFT clinic opened our eyes to what was possible as we even attempted some level two tasks, even though we were still working on level one.

The RFT clinic was an inspiration to us all and it generated a clear path for setting goals that we needed, to continue the journey with QS and our equine friends. Under the leadership of Petra we met on a monthly basis at the Hall Show- grounds or if not there due to inclement weather, we would park ourselves in a coffee shop or each others homes to have some fun times increasing our comfort zones.
Petra has now moved on to a warmer climate (Lockyear Valley, QLD) where she has continued her passion for the
Quantum Savvy programme by staying dynamic and starting up a new group there. We wish her well as she burns through the levels and look forward to meeting up again in the future.

The rest of us regulars; Carrie, Kris, Ute and myself as the groups new GO, have had a rethink regarding our group’s play-days. As only one of us has a horse-trailer, we now meet on a monthly basis with two meetings where we get together without horses, to catch up with each other, look at our QS videos and discuss horsey things and on the third we get together with our horses. Most of the core group members have at least a few Level One assignment cards completed with a few very close now to graduating Level One! And a group of us travelled up to Queensland in 2007 for the Level 2 QSE.
Now that we have some warm weather we’ll be doing some hands- on stuff, sharing our successes and having a laugh at things that don’t go so well on the non-horse play days.

So, anyone in the greater Canberra area, come and join us on the road to fulfilling our horsey dreams with QS. I have taken on the role of GO and with the other girls providing fantastic support, we can move through the Levels of QS always learning and developing ultimate rapport with our horses. My aim is to complete Level 1 before May. I hope to see you at a play day soon.
We are very proud of our fabulous Practice Groups at
Quantum Savvy. They have such a huge desire for learning to become better communicators with their horses and helping further that learning in a group setting with other people and their horses. Each month, one practice group is interviewed and featured on the website.
